Whitefish’s Simmons on Pace for 1,000 Yards Rushing

By Beacon Staff

Midway through the football season, Whitefish senior running back Daniel Simmons has already surpassed last year’s team-high total in rushing yards. Simmons leads Northwestern A in both rushing and touchdowns, each by a comfortable margin. Through four games he has rushed for 520 yards on 77 carries and seven touchdowns. Last year, he rushed for 509 yards all season long.

In Whitefish’s last game, a 25-14 victory over Stevensville, Simmons ran for 126 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. The Bulldogs are tied for first in the conference with Polson at 3-1. Simmons, who is listed at 6 feet and 203 pounds, will look to continue his success this weekend in a homecoming showdown with Ronan. He is on pace for a 1,000 yard season, a feat in Class A football.
