Halfway through the regular football season, it’s still anybody’s guess how the playoff picture will shape up for Class AA and A. Glacier is in a five-team tie for fifth place in AA at 3-2. The top eight teams in the league, out of of 14, make it to the state tournament. The Wolfpack’s remaining schedule isn’t easy, with Helena Capital, Missoula Sentinel and Missoula Big Sky still left. Those three teams have a combined record of 13-2 on the year. Flathead, with a 41-7 loss to Glacier over the weekend, has essentially lost its playoff hopes.
Northwestern A, with the departure of Bigfork, is now the smallest team in Class A with only five teams. That means only two teams won’t make the state tournament. Currently, the top three teams are Polson, Columbia Falls and Whitefish, though the conference schedule has just gotten underway.
