HELENA – The two largest universities in the Montana university system are reporting record enrollment.
The University of Montana reported enrollment of 14,921 this fall, up 714 from a year ago. Montana State’s enrollment is 12,764, or 395 more than the previous record, set in 2008.
UM’s enrollment, the equivalent of 12,757 full-time students, includes students at the College of Technology in Missoula. A full-time equivalent represents 15 undergraduate or 12 graduate semester credits. However, UM is reporting a drop of nearly 66 FTE’s among nonresident students from a year ago.
MSU reports a record 2,281 freshmen enrolled. The previous record was 2,225 set in 2005.
