Burning Desire and a Sneaky Shooter

8:00 a.m. A horse that wandered into Highway 2 through Hungry Horse was found and taken home.

8:47 a.m. A tractor caught fire in Whitefish, and was fully engulfed in flames before the blaze could be controlled.

9:02 a.m. Someone called to request a welfare check on relatives that live on Kelly Road in Columbia Falls. The worried caller feels that the subjects might be overmedicating themselves.

9:30 a.m. A resident of Cemetery Road found it highly suspicious when he was asked to burn down another party’s shed. Although the reporting party believes a crime may have occurred in the shed, authorities found no sign of foul play.

10:51 a.m. Someone in West Glacier reports that a dump truck continually drives through private property. The reporting party is apparently worried that someone might be hit by the truck.

11:15 a.m. A Lakeview Lane resident lent a gun to another individual in October of 2008 and has yet to see its return. The caller has been unable to contact the suspect.

2:44 p.m. Someone stole a mailbox from a property on Managhan Lane.

3:03 p.m. Several determined individuals removed the “no trespassing” signs from a local gravel pit in order to justify using the site for target shooting. Despite their efforts, the area is still considered private property.

3:08 p.m. Reports of smoke on Farm-to-Market Road turned out to be a warming fire at a construction site.

4:35 p.m. An 18-year-old male subject attempted unsuccessfully to steal a music player from an Evergreen box store.

5:18 p.m. A resident of Hoffman Draw is upset because a neighbor’s fence might be on his property.

5:34 p.m. A Columbia Falls woman called to report that two men showed up at her house and asked for her 31-year-old son, who also lives at the home. Apparently, the 31-year-old has a romantic interest in one of the visitor’s daughters.

8:18 p.m. A woman called to report that she lost her checkbook at a local casino.
