Hungry Bear and a Foolish Driver

8:14 a.m. Someone found several kittens in a Lakeside dumpster. The reporting party took one into custody, and the rest were gone when authorities arrived.

8:52 a.m. A man was assaulted by his girlfriend on Antelope Trail.

9:56 a.m. The owners of an aggressive mastiff on Mountain View Drive were located and counseled.

10:01 a.m. A supposedly neglected horse on Shady Lane was old and thin but otherwise fine.

11:03 a.m. Someone was bitten by a feral cat on Four Mile Drive.

11:10 a.m. A cabin was broken into on Mountain Meadow Drive.

12:04 p.m. Someone requested assistance in evicting an unwanted person from a residence on Haven Drive.

12:08 p.m. A Rottweiler came into a neighbor’s yard and exhibited aggressive behavior. The animal warden corralled the pooch.

1:26 p.m. A resident of Batavia Lane received numerous text messages and phone calls from her ex-husband.

2:01 p.m. A dog refused to stay at his Stove Pipe Road home but rather wandered into the neighbor’s yard.

2:01 p.m. A Shar-Pei and a Pit Bull ran at large on Hidden Lane.

4:19 p.m. Two young male subjects looked like they might be breaking into houses in Martin City. Authorities arrived to find that they were actually behaving themselves.

4:57 p.m. Someone noticed that a handful of kids were left unsupervised in a car at a Bigfork grocery store. The children’s mother was located and counseled.

5:20 p.m. Someone on Tamarack Lane in Columbia Falls reports that a bear has been eating the meat out of their outdoor freezer.

5:42 p.m. A 7-year-old child was missing for two minutes on Hilltop Avenue.

6:22 p.m. A structure built out of plywood and two-by-fours caught fire in Kila.

7:11 p.m. A man in dark clothing and carrying a dark-colored bag wandered down the middle of Highway 93.

8:25 p.m. A man got a call from a friend who had run out of gas on Brown’s Meadows Road. The reporting party became worried when he couldn’t find the friend.

9:08 p.m. An injured deer on Hodgeson Road jumped up and ran away when a deputy approached.

9:40 p.m. A 14-year-old ran away from his Lake Blaine home. Authorities found him and took him home.

9:45 p.m. A 17-year-old argued with his parents and then went to bed.

11:46 p.m. A man with previous law enforcement involvement got drunk, stole a 1997 Honda Accord and then proceeded to tailgate and illegally pass a police officer. The man was jailed for stealing the car, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving under the influence of alcohol and having an open bottle of Mike’s Hard Lemonade in his cup holder.
