MISSOULA – The University of Montana’s Football Championship Subdivision semifinal game against Appalachian State is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.

ESPN will air the game live, and is bringing in portable lights because the game will end around dusk.

The other semifinal, between Villanova and William & Mary, will be played Friday night at 6 p.m. and will air on ESPN2.

Montana athletics director Jim O’Day says the fact that Appalachian State had finals scheduled Wednesday through Friday led to the Saturday game in Missoula.

Montana advanced to the semifinals with a 51-0 win over Stephen F. Austin, forcing 10 turnovers and shutting out the FCS’s leading scorers. Appalachian State, which won national titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007, beat defending Richmond 35-31 in another quarterfinal.
