MISSOULA – A Bozeman bar owner and Montana State supporter who placed a “Go Villanova” ad in the newspaper for two days leading up to Montana’s national championship game has been hearing an earful from Griz fans upset with the ad.
Joe Domanski thought it’d be funny to publicly root against the Grizzlies as they face off against Villanova for the NCAA FCS national championship in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The ad for Spectator’s Bar & Grill featured a Griz paw in a circle with a line through it and read “Go Villanova.”
The ad was meant to be an extension of the cross-state rivalry between UM and MSU, but apparently many people felt he stepped over the line.
And by Friday morning, Domanski felt the same way, calling the ad “classless and in poor taste.” He says the game will be on in the bar Friday evening and he plans to root for the Griz.
