HELENA – Former Montana Sen. Conrad Burns was released from a Washington, D.C. hospital over the weekend and moved to a rehabilitation facility to continue recovering from a stroke.

Burns’ family released a statement through U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg saying Burns was released from Georgetown University Hospital and moved to The National Rehabilitation Hospital over the weekend.

Doctors say he could spend three to four weeks there before he is released. Burns suffered a stroke on Dec. 9.

He and his wife recently sold their house in Arlington, Va., and plan to move back to Billings.
