Whitefish High School football coach Patrick Dryden has resigned after four seasons as head coach.

Dryden submitted his letter of resignation to school officials on Monday.

Dryden’s head coaching record at Whitefish was 18-20 and his teams advanced to the playoffs in his first three seasons. He also coached tennis at Whitefish for 10 years, including a state championship, two runners-up finishes and two third-place trophies.

Dryden has coached for 25 years, including 13 in Whitefish, and says he’s running out of energy. He says he plans to do more kayaking and spend more time in Glacier National Park.

Dryden will continue to teach eighth-grade history in Whitefish and coach eighth-grade basketball.
