Basketball Teams Enter Important League Stretch

By Beacon Staff

With the holidays behind us, the basketball season is now entering the heart of its all-important conference schedule. In Class AA boys, Flathead faces conference rivals Missoula Sentinel at home on Tuesday and Missoula Big Sky on the road on Friday. The Braves are 2-3 on the season. The Flathead girls, also 2-3, play Sentinel on the road on Tuesday and Big Sky at home on Friday.

At Kalispell’s other high school, the Glacier boys improved to 4-3 after a 74-61 victory over Polson on Jan. 9. The Wolfpack’s next game is against Big Sky at home on Thursday. Glacier’s girls are 3-4 after dominating Polson 65-40 this weekend. Their next game is on the road against Big Sky on Thursday.

Both Bigfork’s girls and boys have established themselves as legitimate threats to win District 7-B. And the Columbia Falls boys, though only one game into their conference schedule, are undefeated at 8-0 on the season. The season is young and the true contenders are likely to distance themselves in these next couple of weeks.

To see how the rest of the Flathead County’s teams are doing, here are the Northwestern A standings. Bigfork plays in Class B, Flathead and Glacier are in AA, and the rest of Flathead County’s schools are in Class A.
