Glacier Girls’ Basketball Coach Resigns

By Beacon Staff

Glacier High girls’ basketball coach Doug Hashley has resigned after an undisclosed incident.

Glacier activities director Mark Dennehy says Glacier sophomore girls’ coach Kris Salonen will take over head coaching duties.

Dennehy confirmed that Hashley was placed on administrative leave and did not coach the team’s game against Polson on Jan. 9. He would not say what led to Hashley’s resignation.

The Glacier girls lost 54-31 against Missoula Sentinel on Jan. 7, after failing to score for the first 14 minutes of the game and scoring only five points in the first half.

Superintendent Darlene Schottle told school board members Tuesday that she had spoken with Hashley and he felt “his relationship with the team has been irreparably damaged.” She says the district is investigating.

Hashley took over the Glacier High program in its first season in 2007. His teams have posted a 13-36 record.
