Montana Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing From Air Force

By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS – A 25-year-old airman has pleaded guilty to stealing and reselling $42,000 worth of U.S. Air Force equipment, including night vision goggles and a laser aiming device.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Senior Airman Delmas Dingess, of Great Falls, entered the plea Tuesday to theft of government property.

Sentencing is set for April 29.

Prosecutors say the thefts occurred between December 2006 and March 2007 while Dingess was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls. Dingess was assigned to his unit’s equipment locker, where he received and disbursed equipment.

Prosecutors say he stole mostly small items and sold them on eBay.

Authorities say the more sensitive items, like the night vision goggles, have been recovered.
