LETTER: Now a Nation of Big Business

By Beacon Staff

On Jan. 21, 2010, George W. Bush set the government and big business in the same boardroom. Now that people can give $2,400 to federal candidates per election, and businesses can give billions to candidates per election, it appears that the corporations have now, not only been given the rights of people, but also given the power over people.

The Supreme Court ruling on Jan. 21 has changed the United States from a nation of the people, for the people, by the people, to a nation of the people, for big business, buy big business. The end of the path we are now on leads the United States to become a nation of big business, for big business, buy big business. The people will only have Wal-Mart and the scraps left by big business and no political power.

Once again, thanks George Bush, I always wanted a government where my vote is meaningless because the winner has been bought and paid for by the uncontrolled money of big business.
