I read the article in the Feb. 3 Flathead Beacon about the investigation into the Flathead County Planning Department (“‘Closure’ Uncertain in Planning Investigation Aftermath”). The statement attributed to Jeff Harris at the end of the story on page 13 illustrates the problem that often exists. The article stated: “He expects there will always be a group of people who remain opposed to planning.”
As a private engineer, I was involved in the planning and development community for many years. I had never run into persons or “group of people” who were against planning. I did often run into people who were against “planners” who did not follow federal and state laws and locally adopted rules and regulations.
Planning is essential. Scheming needs to go.
