Bigfork has two league champions in basketball.
Despite two straight non-conference losses last week, the Bigfork Vikings finished the regular basketball season with a 15-3 record, including an undefeated mark in league play. Bigfork’s girls also finished with an undefeated league record and a 15-3 overall mark.
As the top seeds in the league, both teams get first-round byes in the District 7-B tournament, which is held Feb. 18-20 in Libby.
Congratulations to both the Vikings and Valkyries, who were able to seamlessly transition back into Class B and find instant success this year. I hope they advance out of districts and on to divisionals. Then perhaps a Class B state tournament berth awaits. But no matter what happens, they’ve already had a fine year.
