Flathead Food Bank Soup Supper

By Beacon Staff

If any entity can make a supper of soup sound exciting, it’s the Flathead Food Bank.

April 9 marks the 15th Annual Flathead Food Bank Soup Supper, which helps raise money for the organization. This year, the evening will consist not only of a delicious meal, but also a 30-item silent auction and 30-item live auction, hosted by the Alpine Auction Gals.

Even the soup bowls offer something a little special. Each was made by local potters, with some new additions this year.

The grand prize of the evening is a framed print of Mark Ogle’s “Wild Flowers,” which will be given away to a lucky diner.

We’ve written a couple stories on food banks around the valley, with most reporting dramatic increases in client numbers in the wake of the recession. They also say any little bit helps.

Tickets cost $25 each and can be purchased at the Flathead Food Bank. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match ticket sales in excess of $1600 for the food bank. For more info, call Flathead Food Bank at 752-3663.
