Unhealthy Air and Three Baby Squirrels

Thursday 4/1

8:51 a.m. Authorities could not locate a deer that had reportedly fallen through the ice on Spencer Lake.

10:19 a.m. A Bigfork woman reports that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend assaulted the younger woman and sent her threatening text messages.

11:45 a.m. Individuals living behind a Columbia Falls bar reportedly threatened several employees of said drinking establishment.

12:35 p.m. Flames and smoke billowed from an electrical box at a trailer on Willow Glen Drive. All occupants were evacuated and the fire was cleared in about thirty minutes.

2:09 p.m. Claims of harassment on South Cedar Drive were declared unfounded when the reporting party said he never called the sheriff’s office in the first place.

3:13 p.m. Deputies counseled the 8-year-old boy who allegedly bounced his 6-year-old brother’s head off the pavement outside their home. The child’s parents will continue to handle the situation.

3:50 p.m. A Brunner woman called to report that her sister, with whom she was feuding, would not leave her property. Officers talked to the unwanted woman and she promptly left.

4:18 p.m. A man in Hungry Horse reports that a man and a woman have been calling him on the phone and harassing him about an accident that occurred in January. The involved parties decided to settle it in court.

4:55 p.m. Over one hundred dollars worth of gas was stolen from a Hungry Horse gas station.

4:59 p.m. Authorities performed a welfare check on a subject on Brunner Road in Columbia Falls. The caller was apparently concerned about secondhand smoke in the home.

5:19 p.m. Officers could not locate an injured deer that was seen limping along Highway 93 South.

5:20 p.m. Someone noticed that the door to a local transmission business was unlocked. Authorities contacted the business owner, who arrived and locked the door.

5:32 p.m. Two feuding neighbors on Blaine Heights Road were yelling and swearing at one another. This is apparently an ongoing problem.

5:37 p.m. An injured seagull was seen on the side of Highway 93. The report was passed on to Kalispell Police Department.

5:40 p.m. A local parent reports that their 16-year-old daughter received threatening text messages from her ex-boyfriend.

6:51 p.m. Two suspicious men sitting in a car in Whitefish were just waiting for a friend.

7:36 p.m. A woman and her daughter argued verbally on Highway 2 West.

8:11 p.m. Someone on Highway 2 East found three baby squirrels, one possibly sick, that may have been abandoned by their mother. The caller was referred to Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

9:20 p.m. Two panhandlers were carrying signs and asking for food near a Whitefish fast food eatery. The subjects were asked to leave, and left.

12:49 a.m. A man was transported to North Valley Hospital with a dislocated shoulder after a fight at a residence on Highway 2.

2:03 a.m. A highly intoxicated individual claims that he was assaulted by the security guard who removed him from a Columbia Falls bar. The individual did not want to press charges and was driven home by a friend.
