The body of a 21-year-old man was discovered in the Whitefish River north of Second Street Bridge in Whitefish on Tuesday afternoon.
River cleanup workers found the body floating near the river’s north shore and reported it to the Whitefish Police Department at about 2 p.m. The man has been identified as James Powers of Whitefish. According to a press release from the police department, Powers was reported missing on Monday night by his family.
The press release states that, according to friends, Powers was last seen leaving a Whitefish bar on Saturday evening and had not been seen since. The Whitefish Police Department and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident. No other details were immediately available on Tuesday evening.
