Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited wants to remind you to join us on Tuesday, April 20, for our next general meeting. We will be meeting at 7:00 pm at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks meeting room, 490 N. Meridian in Kalispell. This month we have another fantastic fishing program. The guides from Lakestream Flyshop in Whitefish will give a presentation on fishing our own Northwest Montana waters. I don’t want to start any rumors, but word on the street is that these guys are going to give up their best secrets for how and where to catch fish in our part of the Treasure State.
And, don’t forget that we are now less than a month away from the Annual Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited Banquet and Auction at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. Those of you who have attended in the past know that this is the premier social event of the year for the Flathead Valley. Please plan to attend on Saturday, May 8. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm with no-host cocktails, viewing of all the fabulous art and raffle items and lots of good socializing with TU members and guests. You do not need to be a TU member to attend, but we will have membership information and brochures available at the banquet. This is our only fund raising event of the year and all proceeds go directly to our efforts to help our local coldwater fisheries, habitat and education efforts.
This year’s Grand Raffle prize is a 14-foot, full wrap, self-bailing Odyssey Rubber Raft with rowing frame and oars. Tickets for the raffle are $3 each, 2 for $5, 5 for $10 or 12 tickets for $20. You do not need to be present to win, but you will kick yourself if you miss all the fun. There will also be a silent auction that will include original artwork, limited edition prints, guided fishing trips, gift certificates, rods, reels, locally tied flies and lots of other great stuff for folks of all ages. In addition to calling, you will be able to see the raft package and pick up banquet and raffle tickets at Rosauers on the south side of Kalispell on Saturday May 1. Our crack team will be there all day to answer questions and provide you with tickets. This is the big one, be sure to get tickets early!
