Psssst. Hey buddy, want a job? How about working for Mother Nature? She’s putting out enough wind and sun in Montana to run windmills and solar panels until the cows come home. And there’s a ton of jobs waiting to come home, too, if we play our cards right.
Check out those windmills, for example – millworkers, road builders, engineers, surveyors, cement and steel workers, drivers, electricians, high-line workers – pretty hard to beat the options and opportunities. “Green” industry can spread around tons of jobs instead of spreading around tons of smoke. If we can get some of these whirligigs on line, we won’t be digging our energy out of the ground and sending that gunk up the flue.
That gunk is helping create killer fire seasons, droughts, (snowpack’s down about 50 percent) and weird weather. We’ll have to rename Glacier Park: “The Park Formerly Known as Glacier.” Heckuva tourist draw, eh?
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a clean energy bill last June. Let’s tell the Senate to get smart on this issue too. Tell Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester to get to work passing a clean energy bill.
