HELENA – The state says that international exports dropped 28 percent last year amid the recession.
The Montana World Trade Center says the drop in state exports is in line with what the rest of the country has experienced. The agency says it expects exports will remain flat this year.
The drop returned Montana to the same level of exports as seen back in 2007.
Canada is the biggest purchaser of Montana goods, and exports to that country dropped 37 percent. Montana’s biggest export is its wheat crop.
