State wildlife officials say two grizzly bears that had gotten too comfortable around people north of Ferndale will be relocated to a remote area.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley says one of the two grizzlies was captured Wednesday and a trap is out for the second one.
Manley says a resident fired shots over the bears’ heads after they approached his deck Tuesday morning, and they did not seem deterred.
Manley says heavy snowfall in the mountains is pushing bears to a lower elevation and he urges residents to bring in pets and livestock feed, bird feeders and garbage.
The heavy snow will also delay the release of the bears, he says.
