Heritage Foundation Praises Schweitzer on Health Care

By Beacon Staff

I missed Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe last week, but The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in Washington D.C., did not. Conn Carroll offers some unlikely praise for the Democratic governor because of his answer to a question on whether elements of health care legislation would bankrupt the state:

“[The spending] is kicked down the road. And if you believe that this bill is not going to change between now and ‘17, ‘18, and ‘19, when a lot of this kicks in, then you are smoking your own belly button lint.”

From this, Carroll concludes that, “Democrats like Gov. Schweitzer are predicting financial catastrophe absent major revisions to this very flawed legislation,” which is a bit of the stretch.

Nonetheless, the clip is worth a look and includes some observations from part-time Montanan Tom Brokaw.
