Women’s Fly Fishing Workshop

By Beacon Staff

On May 22, Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited partnered with Lone Pine State Park to conduct a hands-on, instructional, Women’s Fly Fishing Workshop. An enthusiastic group of local women received introductory instruction on casting, equipment, techniques and conservation from instructors Stacy Dolan and Ann Kendall. Members of Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited were on hand to provide support for the instructors and to provide a perspective on native fish conservation. Following a morning of learning about the basics of fly fishing at the Lone Pine Visitor Center and a lakeside lunch provided by the chapter, participants were able to put their new-found knowledge to the test with a couple hours of fishing on nearby Foy’s Lake. A few fish were brought to the boats and everyone involved had a great time.

FVTU would like to sincerely thank Stacy and Ann for sharing their detailed knowledge and passion for fly fishing with the students and for allowing us to be part of the workshop.
