FWP Relocates Grizzly That was Killing Livestock in Northwest Montana

By Beacon Staff

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has relocated a grizzly bear that was killing livestock in the Star Meadow area in the northwestern part of the state.

FWP grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley says the 4- to 5-year-old male bear killed two pigs, four goats and two llamas at the Star Meadow ranch of Vic Aquino. The bear was captured Saturday and was moved to the South Fork Flathead River drainage Monday.

Manley says it was near the ranch for about a week before FWP was notified.

The bear was the sixth grizzly to be relocated in the last two weeks. Other bears were trapped near Lakeside, Martin City and Trail Creek.
