Arrests Made After 58 Marijuana Plants Found in Kalispell Home

By Beacon Staff

Two Kalispell men were arrested last month and one faces felony drug charges after authorities confiscated 58 marijuana plants from an east side home.

A physical disturbance was reported on June 6 in the 000 block of Fourth Avenue East. When officers arrived, Lorne Krieg, 20, fled, despite numerous orders from officers to stop. He was caught just inside a residence at 23 Fourth Ave. E. and arrested for obstructing a peace officer. Officers observed dried blood on Krieg’s hands.

While arresting Krieg, another man fled to the rear of the residence. Officers observed a number of marijuana plants and multiple items of drug paraphernalia in the home. When the three residents were located, it was discovered that none possessed medical marijuana cards or were licensed caregivers, although one individual said he was in the process of applying for a card and caregiver status.

After the Norwest Drug Task Force helped obtain a search warrant, officers discovered the following: two grow rooms containing 58 marijuana plants in various stages of maturation, grow lights, drug paraphernalia and what are believed to be hallucinogenic mushrooms. Carey Bredfield, 19, was arrested for felony manufacturing of dangerous drugs. Kalispell Police Chief Roger Nasset expects more charges and arrests in conjunction with the incident will be made in near the future.
