Jerry Groesbeck uses a chainsaw to cut a felled elm tree into manageable pieces on his rental property on the east side of Whitefish. There was some speculation that the tree was hit by lightning during Thursday night’s storm. High winds and reports of lightning strikes during the afternoon storm caused damage throughout the valley, including small power outages, wrecked fences and vehicles damaged by trees and limbs.
