Authorities Investigating Death in Glacier

By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS – Authorities are investigating the death of a well-known traditional Native American dancer and singer who died in Glacier National Park.

Authorities say 30-year-old Clinton Croff of Browning died Thursday from multiple wounds after becoming involved in altercations near road construction traffic.

The FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Montana Highway Patrol and park officials are taking part in the investigation, but authorities have released few details.

Park rangers say when they arrived they found Croff combative and already suffering multiple wounds. Rangers say they subdued Croff, but he then collapsed, and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

An autopsy was planned at the State Crime Lab in Missoula.
