The Transformation of Bowen Greenwood

The <a href="http://www.billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/article_8c9af648-9f87-11df-9137-001cc4c03286.html" title="Billings Gazette has an interesting profile”>Billings Gazette has an interesting profile on Bowen Greenwood. The executive director of the Montana Republican Party once weighed more than 300 pounds and lived on cigarettes and Ramen.

Greenwood’s father had already paid a price for his unhealthy lifestyle, suffering from a massive stroke at age 39. And it appeared his son would be following in his footsteps. <a href="http://www.billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/article_8c9af648-9f87-11df-9137-001cc4c03286.html" title="From the Gazette“>From the Gazette:

By 2000, Greenwood weighed at least 300 pounds, and wasn’t getting any exercise. In 2006, he was working as a spokesman for Secretary of State Brad Johnson. He went to the doctor’s office that year and learned some tough truth: Greenwood had Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis.

“I looked exactly like my father,” he said. “I would be dead, at best, in five years and, at worst, be in a wheelchair unable to speak.”

Since then, Greenwood has shed almost 100 pounds and no longer has diabetes. The before and after pictures are pretty remarkable. Read the entire story here.
