Friday Music Selections at Gateway Food Court

By Beacon Staff

Have you been wondering, “Hmm. Where can I find a place to enjoy a good lunch and listen to some live tunes, all while helping out my community?”

Well, the folks at United Way have an option. Fridays during August will feature live music at the Gateway Community Center’s food court, located at the Gateway West mall.

The music runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; here’s the lineup:

Aug. 13 — David Rice on keyboard.

Aug. 20 — Big Sky Fiddlers and fiddle students.

Aug. 27 — Guitarist/singer Joe Procita.

And in case you didn’t know already, the work at the Gateway Community Center is pretty cool:

The Gateway Community Center is being transformed into a central location where people of all income levels, backgrounds and needs can access services and participate in the work and activities of the non-profit community.

Non-profit agencies which are currently housed at the Gateway Community Center are the United Way and the United Way Volunteer Center, CASA for Kids, Violence Free Crisis Line and the Flathead Food Bank, the Boys and Girls Clubs, Montana Conservation Corps and the Summit Independent Living Center and Youth Dynamics.

The Food Court and entertainment/display areas surrounding the food court will be available for community entertainment venues, displays, art shows, events and fairs. The space is envisioned as a place where children’s groups and school performances could be shared with the public.

There are three food options at the food court, where you can find pizza, espresso, sweets and other lunch items. Proceeds from J.R.’s Pizza and Margie’s Cafe and Espresso benefit the Meals on Wheels program and proceeds from weet Expectations by RSVP benefit the RSVP programs throughout the community.
