GREAT FALLS – About 900 military members will be deployed from Montana within the next month.
Military officials say more than 300 members of the 219th and 819th RED HORSE Squadrons will leave Great Falls on Monday for combat skills training at Fort McCoy, Wis. Both units will be deployed for up to eight months.
Then in mid-September, nearly 600 members of the Montana National Guard’s 163rd Cavalry will be sent to Camp Shelby, Miss., for combat skills training.
Maj. Tim Crowe of the Montana National Guard says the deployment is for a year and the unit will be ultimately sent to support overseas contingency operations. He did not say where.
