Montana Ranked No. 1 in FCS Poll

The University of Montana moved up to the No. 1 spot in the Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision poll released Monday.

Montana was the national runner-up last season and was ranked second behind national champion Villanova in the preseason poll.

Villanova lost 31-24 to FBS opponent Temple while Montana downed NCAA Division II Western State of Colorado 73-2 on Saturday, leading to a switch in the top two spots. Montana received 57 first-place votes while Villanova received 46. Appalachian State stayed at No. 3.

In the coaches poll, Villanova remained No. 1, followed by Montana and Appalachian State.
