The Daybreak Rotary Club of Kalispell is in the midst of selling tickets for its annual fundraiser, which each year provides about $25,000 to area nonprofits and for other national and local projects.
Millennium Madness 2011 is also unique in that it’s a lottery with decent odds and high stakes. Five grand prizes are drawn between Oct. 21 and Dec. 30, with the winnings growing from $500 to $10,000. Just 225 tickets are sold and each cost $200.
The idea for the drawing was hatched by state senator and rotary member Greg Barkus about 10 years after the Rotary Club held a fundraising garage sale that raised just over $1,000.
The raffle is the only fundraiser the group holds annually and it has sold out of tickets every year but one. Each Daybreak Rotary Club member is required to buy one and sell two.
Rotary consists of businesspeople who meet weekly to network and support a variety of local and international programs – from funding local playgrounds to campaigns to eradicate polio.
Millenum Madness tickets are on sell until Sept. 30. For more information, contact Mark Armstrong at 270-7825.
