With a few more weeks before Halloween, there is still plenty of time to visit the Sweet Pickin’s Pumpkin Patch to pick the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating.
Located off Columbia Falls Stage Road, the DeVries family maintains a large “U-Pick” field where families can browse and choose their own.
Before picking your pumpkin, take time to explore the numerous other activities the DeVrieses have assembled throughout their farm. Learn about farm animals at a petting zoo that includes goats, alpacas and sheep, or wander through the bunny village.
Kids and their parents are welcome to take turns pedaling through the hay-lined “trike maze,” play in the sand box or relax on the porch at the barn. This year, try not to get lost in the new corn maze while zig-zagging through the tall overhanging corn stalk.
Also new this year is the “pumpkin pillow,” a massive inflated pillow quickly becoming a favorite attraction at Sweet Pickin’s for all ages.
Treats such as caramel apples and cookies are available for purchase. Or enjoy a bag of freshly popped kettle corn.
The “pumpkin train,” a line of wagons being pulled by a green tractor, is one of the favorites for visiting families. Ride the train around the farm before heading through the heart of the pumpkin patch.
Sweet Pickin’s is open through Oct. 31.
How to get there: From downtown Kalispell, travel east on U.S. Highway 2. Continue straight onto MT Highway 35. Turn north on Columbia Falls Stage. Sweet Pickin’s Pumpkin Patch is on the west side of the road.
