Stillwater Christian Wins 44th State Title in 25 Years

By Beacon Staff

Congratulations to Stillwater Christian School. The Cougars’ girls volleyball and boys soccer teams each won Montana Christian Athletic Association championships over the weekend.

The Cougars beat Helena Christian High School in the MCAA volleyball state title game to finish the year undefeated at 30-0. The soccer team defeated Yellowstone County Home School to claim its eighth straight MCAA title.

I profiled the athletic program earlier this fall and was impressed with the quality of the small high school’s sports teams. Among the opponents Stillwater beat on the volleyball court this year were Whitefish and Columbia Falls, schools with enrollments several times larger.

Stillwater now has 44 state championships since 1985-1986, when the Cougars’ girls basketball team won the first title in school history. The volleyball program has 11 titles and the boys soccer program has 17.
