BILLINGS – A 26-year-old former Billings Outlaws football player has acknowledged his role in a cocaine trafficking case that involved several other former players.
Nolan Fisher appeared in federal court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to one count of possession of cocaine for distribution. Two other counts will be dismissed as part of a plea deal when he is sentenced Feb. 2.
Prosecutors say the former offensive lineman for the defunct indoor football team lived with teammate Robert Reed. Fisher was accused of letting an undercover detective into their room, where she would get cocaine from Reed, and of driving his roommate to three drug deals.
Reed was sentenced in September to 26 months in prison.
Fisher, who became involved with Reed and cocaine in the fall of 2008 and made his last delivery early the next year, disputes some of the prosecution’s evidence. He says he and Reed had a two-bedroom apartment and he never stored cocaine in his room. He also says he never let the detective into his room but acknowledged letting her into the apartment and knew she was there for cocaine.
Fisher says he met Shon Flores, another former Outlaws player who was the main local dealer, only a few times and that their meetings were not about drugs.
Flores, who is serving more than six years in federal prison for his role, brought almost 40 pounds of cocaine from Salt Lake City to the Billings area.
Five former Outlaws players have been convicted in the case.
