PSC’s Molnar Faces Charges in Laurel Accident

BILLINGS – Public Service Commissioner Brad Molnar is facing traffic charges after he backed into a car at a fast food drive-through in Laurel and drove off without identifying himself or reporting the accident.

Police Detective Jason Wells told the Billings Gazette on Friday an 18-year-old Park City woman reported her car was hit the night of Oct. 22.

Molnar acknowledges hitting the vehicle but says the woman told him she didn’t care about the damage because she was getting a new car. He says he left unaware he needed to exchange information.

Wells says the woman told investigators she thought she and Molnar were going to move their vehicles and exchange information, but Molnar just kept going.

Police contacted Molnar after the woman took down his license plate number. He was ticketed for failing to identify himself at an accident and for failing to notify authorities by quickest means of an accident. A city court date has been set for Nov. 29.
