Election Officials Report Smooth Voting at Polls

HELENA — The Montana Secretary of State’s office reports that voting is going smoothly across the state.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday in most locations, with others opening at noon.

Secretary of State spokeswoman Terri Knapp says election officers around the state reported no problems in the voting.

Knapp says voters have returned 159,801absentee ballots as of 3 p.m. Tuesday. That’s out of 188,968 sent.

There are 650,253 registered voters in the state.

Polls close at 8 p.m.
