GREAT FALLS – Authorities say the case of a 16-year-old boy who was shot while hunting near Malta is being treated as a homicide.
Phillips County Sheriff Tom Miller says Logan Wilson’s death does not make sense as a suicide or as an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sheriff says the death will be considered a homicide unless witnesses come forward or ballistics tests clear up what happened.
Authorities say Wilson became separated from two friends he was hunting with on Oct. 23. His companions eventually found him in a field, and he had been shot once in the neck. The Malta boy died at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says one of Wilson’s hunting companions has been interviewed but the other has declined to come in for questioning.
