Bob Green, the longtime football coach at Montana Tech in Butte, has announced his retirement. I’ve had the privilege to speak with Green before, only briefly, so I didn’t really get to hear many of the endlessly quotable quips he’s known for.
It is partly due to these quips, along with his distinguished coaching career, that national news organizations and blogs have been talking about his retirement. This includes Sports Illustrated.
Over the last quarter-century, Green has become somewhat of a coaching legend in Montana. The long list of players he’s coached includes quite a few Flathead kids. To get a feel for the coach’s personality, I’ve attached a couple of video compilations of his most memorable quotes. Enjoy.
