Arlee Woman Killed in One Vehicle Crash

By Beacon Staff

POLSON – The Montana Highway Patrol says a woman swerved to avoid hitting a deer on U.S. Highway 93, leading to a crash that killed the woman and injured her passenger.

The patrol tells KERR-AM that the woman was northbound Monday night when she swerved to the right to avoid hitting the animal. She overcorrected to the left and the SUV she was driving rolled nearly twice, coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The 27-year-old Arlee woman driving the vehicle was partially ejected and died at the scene. Her name has not been released.

A 20-year-old female passenger from St. Ignatius was taken to a Missoula hospital with undisclosed injuries. The patrol says neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
