Darrell Bell Confirmed as US Marshal for Montana

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – The U.S. Senate has confirmed Darrell Bell as Montana’s next U.S. marshal.

Bell had been an investigator with the Montana Department of Justice’s Gambling Investigation Bureau. He previously was the Billings Police Department’s deputy chief and briefly its interim chief.

Bell’s four-year term was confirmed by the Senate on Sunday.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Max Baucus of Montana says Bell’s experience and leadership in law enforcement will be an asset in his new position.

Bell replaces Rodney Ostermiller, who had been Montana’s acting marshal since Dwight McKay retired in April as the state’s top federal law enforcement officer.
