‘Black Christmas’ Mega Party on Dec. 23

By Beacon Staff

Happy holidays, Flathead Valley. Looking for something to do on Thursday night?

Well, take this into consideration: Local entertainment company The Nightlife Events is hosting a giant Christmas party at the Outlaw Inn in Kalispell on Dec. 23.

Black Christmas,” as the event is called because of a preferred-but-not-mandatory dress code of black clothes, is set to take over the 6,000-square-foot convention center space at the Outlaw with local and out-of-state DJs playing on two stages. There will also be three bars available and a beer pong tournament happening.

One of the highlights of the night will be Johnny Monsoon, a well known Seattle-based DJ flying in for the party. He’s opened shows for Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Sander Van Doorn, Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold, ATB, Above & Beyond, Blank & Jones, Kyau & Albert, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Christopher Lawrence, George Acosta, Morgan Page, Tom Novy and Jimmy Van M to name a few, according to Sean Vaughn of The Nightlife.

The party, he said, will be a mix between a concert and an electronic music celebration. It’s not a rave, but it is a good time for some of the valley’s younger population to get out of the house and mingle, he said.

“It’s not as much about making money as it is putting on a good show,” Vaughn said. “No one’s even ever attempted this.”

Last year’s Christmas party was at the Eagles and had about 450 people, he said. Vaughn expects 500 to 600 people this year, minimum.

“It’s like our magic time of year, everyone is in a good mood and they want to celebrate,” he said.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and the Flip Wilsons kick off the action at 8:30 p.m. Vaughn said the show is for people 18 years old and up, though there will be alcohol available for those 21 and up. Security will be in place to ensure there is no underage drinking, he added.
