Seeley Lake Man Sentenced in Fatal Hit-and-Run

MISSOULA – A man involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist on Highway 83 near Seeley Lake has been sentenced to five years with the Montana Department of Corrections.

Cody Bartlett pleaded no contest last month in the June 25, 2009, accident that killed 18-year-old Rodney “Jake” Loudon.

Bartlett was charged with felony evidence tampering and two misdemeanor charges of careless driving resulting in death and failing to give notice of an accident by the quickest means.

Bartlett also must pay fees and restitution totaling $3,372

KECI-TV reports the five-year sentence was handed down Tuesday. The Department of Corrections will determine how Bartlett should carry out the sentence.
