Lake County Can’t Agree on Senator Replacement

By Beacon Staff

POLSON – Lake County commissioners were unable to reach an agreement on a replacement for a state senator serving the Polson area and are asking the Lake and Flathead County Republican central committees for three more names.

Commissioners interviewed Rep. Jana Taylor of Dayton, Big Arm resident Darold Schaeffer and Polson resident Rory Horning on Monday. Commissioner Bill Barron tells KERR-AM that they could not reach a consensus on a replacement for Sen. John Brueggeman of Polson and asked the Republicans for three more names.

Barron says the central committees have five days to respond and commissioners will have five days after that to make a decision. Barron says they must consider all six nominees.

Brueggeman resigned in late November to focus on his career.
