Glacier Park Inc. Buys Grouse Mountain Lodge

By Beacon Staff

WHITEFISH – The company that operates major lodges in and near Glacier National Park has purchased Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.

Glacier Park Inc. on Wednesday announced its purchase of the 145-room resort hotel adjacent to the Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

GPI President and General Manager Cindy Ognjanov says the hotel is an opportunity for the company to have a year-round presence in the Flathead Valley.

Glacier Park Inc. operates five lodges inside the park, owns and manages the Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier and operates the Prince of Whales Hotel in Waterton Lakes National Park.

Buzz Crutcher, who has co-owned the Grouse Mountain Lodge since it opened in July 1984 says he wasn’t planning on selling until GPI approached him. He says the resort’s 90 employees will keep their jobs.

Crutcher says he can’t disclose the sales price.
