Bigfork Girls Basketball More Than Doubling Opponents’ Scores

By Beacon Staff

Fresh off its first state football title in school history, Bigfork High School has carried that momentum into the basketball season, with both the boys and girls jumping out to undefeated conference records. After victories over the weekend, the Vikings improved to 5-0 in the league (7-2 overall) and the Valkyries moved to 5-0 (7-1 overall).

Not only are the unblemished conference records impressive, the manner in which the Vikings and Valkyries achieved those records is pretty incredible. The two teams have been utterly dominant, especially recently.

In the past four games, all conference contests, the Valkyries have more than doubled up on their opponents, outscoring them 227-101. Those victories were 56-30 over Thompson Falls, 51-19 over St. Ignatius, 58-23 over Plains and 62-29 over Troy.

In that same span, the boys have outscored opponents 193-126, with wins of 55-36 over Thompson Falls, 32-19 over St. Ignatius, 61-34 over Plains and 45-37 over Troy.

I’d say that’s a pretty good way to start off your league schedule.
