Tyler Thomas Transfers to Montana State University

By Beacon Staff

As reported by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle earlier in the day, Montana State University’s official athletics website is confirming that former Flathead High School football star Tyler Thomas is transferring from Oregon State University to the Bobcats.

Thomas, the older brother of current Flathead senior Connor Thomas, was removed from OSU’s team last year after a nationally publicized incident in which police found him intoxicated and nude in a stranger’s house. Thomas reportedly dropped down in a three-point stance and lunged at officers, who subdued him with a Taser.

In the story on MSU’s website, Bobcats head coach Rob Ash welcomed Thomas to the team.

“Tyler was one of the better players from the state of Montana in his class,” Ash said. “We’re excited to get an outstanding lineman from Montana. We love recruiting players from Montana, and we have a need in the offensive line, so he’s a good fit. Tyler has excellent size, we like his balance, he’s light on his feet. I’m an Iowa guy and I always like linemen who were wrestlers, because they usually have good agility and the ability to win one-on-one battles.”
