Rehberg to Address State Legislature

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg has announced plans to address a joint session of the state Legislature.

The Republican is scheduled to speak at the state Capitol at 1 p.m. Monday.

Each member of Montana’s congressional delegation is invited to address the Legislature every two years. Rehberg said in a statement Sunday he plans to talk in favor of individual and states’ rights over “unchecked federal expansion.”

Rehberg announced Saturday he’ll be running against U.S. Sen. Jon Tester in 2012. He told a crowd of Republicans gathered in Helena that a backlash in Montana to “liberal know-it-alls” running the nation was a big reason he decided to join the race.
