Basketball Power Poll and Conference Standings

By Beacon Staff

Columbia Falls is back on top in the most recent Associated Press Class A boys basketball power poll and Glacier is inching toward the top five in Class AA. And while these power polls don’t mean a whole lot in the big picture, they are an indication of where teams stack up at the state level.

What really matters at this point in the year are conference standings. For example, I doubt a team like Columbia Falls is too concerned that it’s not ranked in the AP girls power poll. The Wildkats are ranked No. 1 in the Northwestern A standings and that’s what counts.
